Flower and Bank

Akihiro Misaki's *Flower and Bank* (2016), a lithograph, depicts a small, precisely rendered multi-story building façade in gold-brown tones centered against a solid black ground. The façade is patterned with rows of tiny rectangular window units across its upper stories, while at ground level a dark, angular void breaks the symmetry between two flanking piers. No figures appear; the print is matted with a wide white border in a brushed pewter frame, and the overall effect is spare and quiet, built on the contrast between the black field and the metallic gold architectural form.
