Description
Vertical striations of pale wood-grain lines run the full height of the composition against a dense indigo-black ground, thinning and breaking into scattered horizontal marks at the center where a low skyline of small rectangular and grid-like shapes is suggested. The lower half is slightly lighter in tone than the upper, with the vertical lines becoming more irregular and gap-toothed toward the bottom edge. The palette is limited to near-black and pale grey-beige, giving the abstracted, water-and-city composition a dim, monochrome mood; *City reflection*, a woodblock (mokuhange) print by Ann Kavanagh, 2024.
