The second print in the Dappled Light series continues Wilhide Justin's investigation into how light fractures as it passes through a canopy or onto water. Printed on washi using the traditional Japanese woodcut process, the composition builds successive transparent layers of color, each block contributing a new spatial register. The series format allows subtle shifts between prints — adjusting hue, density, or the distribution of light and shadow — so that Dappled Light II occupies a distinct moment within the larger sequence. The natural sizing of washi moderates ink absorption, enabling delicate tonal transitions that capture the ephemeral quality of filtered light.
Dappled Light II was created by Carol Wilhide Justin.
Dappled Light II uses Washi, on mokuhanga on washi.
