Sediment 4

Sediment 4 (2015) by Cyoko Tamai presents a single irregular white circular form on a solid black ground, its ragged edges suggesting an eroded or cratered mass. The surface is densely worked in ink with dozens of dark, pitted rings and pockmarks of varying size, concentrated most heavily at the bottom and right and thinning toward a paler, near-blank zone at upper center. The palette is limited to black, white, and gray, and the overall effect is a textured, pitted sphere isolated against darkness.
