Dream on the Side Table presents an interior still life centred on a small domestic table — likely bearing one or two vessels, a folded cloth, or a low ornament — rendered in the soft tonal field that characterises Kawai's mature practice. The lithograph exploits the fine-grained surface of stone, where layered tusche washes and crayon work produce gradual tonal transitions that allow forms to emerge from and recede into ambient light rather than being defined by hard contour.
