Fragrant Wind

Fragrant Wind, identified as a color aquatint and etching, indicates a multi-plate or multi-color process more elaborate than the monochrome aquatint that characterizes much of Asahi's work. The title points to an atmospheric or floral subject — wind made visible through the carriage of scent — which in printmaking typically resolves as a figure surrounded by drifting plant matter or as a landscape stirred by an implied current of air.
