Description
work6-1 is the sixth matrix in Miyauchi's numbered "work" series, and this is the first variant pulled from it. The variant designation is central to her project: a single screen — a single recorded brushstroke — is printed multiple times with deliberate changes in ink load, color, registration, or canvas ground, so that the edition documents the printmaking process as itself a generator of difference. Variant 1 establishes a baseline reading of the matrix, the gesture pulled cleanly through the screen onto canvas in water-based ink, the brush-mark legible as an index of the original studio movement. The translation from brushwork to screen flattens the gestural energy into a stencil while preserving its silhouette and edge characteristics, and the canvas support maintains the painterly scale of the source mark. The work belongs to the body of large-format silkscreen-on-canvas prints Miyauchi has been developing since her MFA at Tama Art University.
