Viola purpurea

A single wild violet plant (*Viola purpurea*) is rendered in fine black outline against a plain white ground, its root and rhizome exposed below a fan of slender stems that radiate outward. Small five-petaled yellow flowers on thin stalks alternate with pointed, toothed green leaves, printed in flat washes of yellow-green, mid-green, and dark green.
