Description
From Oda's Woman Calendar series — a project organized around the calendar's months or seasons, each composition exploring a different aspect of feminine experience within the annual cycle of time. The flower-viewing (hanami) composition brings Oda's goddess iconography to the beloved Japanese spring ritual of gathering beneath cherry or plum blossoms to contemplate their beauty and transience. In Oda's feminist revision, hanami becomes not simply a social pleasure but an act of contemplation that honors the natural world's cycles of flowering and falling — the woman who views flowers is both participant in a tradition and celebrant of the sacred feminine creativity that the blossoms embody. The Artist's Proof notation indicates a copy outside the main numbered edition.
