Description
A close view of a single work from the 2023 series, photographed at a distance that exposes Osada's printing logic. At this proximity the screenprinted or UV inkjet image registers as continuous tone on a substrate whose physical character — fibrous, glossy, granular, or adhesive — carries information that the photograph alone cannot supply. The detail makes legible the small misregistrations, ink build-up at edges, and substrate texture that distinguish her object-prints from a straightforward photographic reproduction. This is the level of looking the larger installation invites: only at this range can a viewer determine whether they are seeing tape, an image of tape, or an image of tape printed onto tape-like film. The detail view is consistent with her method since the late 2010s of using everyday materials drawn from her studio and domestic environment, treating screen and inkjet processes as forensic tools that document the surface qualities of objects already too familiar to be seen clearly.
