Plum

A single bare plum branch rises diagonally through a wide expanse of blank paper, its dark, textured bark marked with small buds along its length. Three pale, loosely coiled circular outlines float beside the branch where blossoms would be, while a cluster of small solid red-orange dots sits near a lower offshoot at the base. The composition is spare and asymmetrical, with the branch confined to the right side of the sheet and the rest left empty; ink on paper, by Ryo Shinagawa, 2018.
