Marginal

An abstract, non-representational composition dominated by a mottled grey-brown field crossed by thin, wavering incised lines, some looping and curling like fine wire or scratches. An asymmetrical black border of dense scratchy silver-leaf marks frames the upper-left, left, and lower-right portions of the sheet, leaving the right and top edges open to the plain paper margin. Titled "Marginal," pencil-signed and numbered in the lower margin, this 1992 etching with silver leaf by Shinichi Nakazawa presents a muted, textured surface in tones of taupe, grey, and black.
