Following closely upon its predecessor in the iris series, No. 94 by Sugiura Kazutoshi explores a slightly different configuration of the same hana-shōbu subject — the petals perhaps oriented differently, the color temperature shifted toward warmer or cooler registers, the leaf geometry adjusted in relation to the bloom. These incremental variations, repeated across more than one hundred and sixty compositions, constitute a meditation on perception itself: how the same thing can look perpetually different depending on the conditions of its viewing. The layered printing technique rewards extended looking.
