Description
Fifth and concluding the present sequence, this Abe-Takano intaglio brings the numbered series to a close. The duo's selection for the 3rd PATinKyoto Print Art Triennale in 2022, under the joint billing 'Abe Daisuke / Takano Takeshi,' situates the work within a specific moment in Kyoto's contemporary print scene, which sustains a range of triennial and biennial events alongside the longer-standing Kyoto Hanga Association tradition. As an intaglio print produced through collaborative authorship, the work depends on a sequence of physical operations — drawing, biting, wiping, registration, pressure printing — divided between two hands. The numbered, untitled format invites the prints to be read together rather than singly, with each sheet contributing to the cumulative visual argument of the series. Within the duo's wider body of work — which spans university teaching, group exhibitions, and the sustained collaborative print practice begun at Aichi — prints of this kind represent the core studio output rather than commissioned or commemorative work. The Abe-Takano partnership represents an established sustained collaboration in contemporary Japanese intaglio.
