Description
Photo Respiration City Scape #374, a 1999 archival pigment print by Tokihiro Sato, is a black-and-white long-exposure photograph of a covered walkway or corridor lined with concrete walls and dark support columns receding toward a vanishing point. Filling the passage from floor to mid-height are dense clusters of squiggling white light trails, appearing almost like tall grass or froth, contrasting with the geometric ceiling fixtures and structural lines of the architecture above. The image is quiet and still in its architecture but chaotic and luminous in its foreground, with no human figures present.
