Description
Presented in a three-artist exhibition at KG+ 2025 alongside Hiroki Kondo and kanamaru, this work continues Ueda's silkscreen-on-mirror investigation begun with the #illusion series. The grouped format places her practice in dialogue with peers working adjacent to the photographic image, consistent with KG+'s remit as the satellite program of the Kyotographie photography festival. As with the earlier mirror works, Ueda screens the blurred placeholder image Instagram displays during post loading directly onto a reflective ground, so that the viewer's own reflection is held inside the printed image. The 2025 iteration demonstrates the durability of the source material — Instagram's loading thumbnail has not meaningfully changed across the years she has worked with it — and the steady refinement of the silkscreen-and-mirror combination as a printmaking proposition. The three-artist setting also positions Ueda within an emerging Kansai-region cohort engaging digital visual culture through traditional craft-based print processes.
