A dense stand of tall conifer trunks, thickly furrowed and dark with moss, fills the frame in close-up, with pale lichen or moss draped on branches visible in the gaps between trees. Muted greens and browns dominate, with a shadowed forest floor scattered with fallen needles and small rocks below. Yoshihiko Ueda's 1990 Type C-print "Quinault, No. 38" isolates this vertical cluster of tree trunks without sky or horizon, creating a dim, enclosed woodland view.
