Poonam Athalye is an England-based, Indian-origin multidisciplinary artist and illustrator who brings together her Marathi heritage and the craft of Japanese woodblock printmaking through her project 'Limbu Timbu.' She is based in London and has over a decade of experience in children's content and illustration.
Beyond her work in mokuhanga, Athalye is an accomplished writer whose short story 'Afternoon Birds' was longlisted for the Commonwealth Short Story Prize 2023, selected from among 6,642 entries from across the Commonwealth. She was selected for the juried exhibition at the 2024 International Mokuhanga Conference (IMC) in Echizen, Japan, where her prints were displayed in the Europe and Africa regional exhibition.
