Description
Morning 38 represents a late entry in the numbered Morning series and likely reflects the progressive abstraction that characterized Amano's development across serial work. The print would share the compositional architecture of its predecessors — horizontal registers, restrained palette, and the reduction of landscape to geometry — but may introduce obi-pattern motifs or more pronounced embossing that signals the evolution of his practice. By the late entries in this series, the ostensible subject of morning light has become largely a pretext for formal exploration: the arrangement of color planes, the quality of their boundaries, and the interplay between printed surface and the physical texture of embossed [washi](/glossary/washi). The print is likely printed on [oban](/glossary/oban)-format washi, and the limited edition nature of Amano's production means each impression was carefully pulled by hand using a [baren](/glossary/baren).
