Description
The third entry in the numbered untitled lithograph sequence. Sequential untitled works in printmaking commonly track variation across the same drawn matrix — successive states of a stone, alternative ink loads, paper changes — or function as a holding category for prints prior to catalogue placement. In Ashikawa's case, the three numbered untitled prints likely share lithographic technique and the artist's stated subject vocabulary: the diminutive manga-derived figure, civil-engineering geometry, the planographic continuous tone permitted by stone or aluminum-plate lithography. The run belongs to the body of work produced from her MFA at Musashino Art University forward, the period in which her combination of nineteenth-century European lithographic tradition with manga-register figuration developed into the recognised voice acknowledged by the Art Award Tokyo Marunouchi (Mitsubishi Estate Prize) in 2019. The 'Ashikawa' tag on the title indicates archival rather than exhibition naming, suggesting works held in studio inventory.
