Description

*Flurries*, 1990, woodblock print by Daniel Kelly, rendered in black and cream tones with scattered white spots of falling snow across the entire sheet. A winding black path or field cuts diagonally through the composition, bordered by bare, spindly trees and low dark shrubs, with the silhouettes of two small structures with peaked roofs visible in the mid-ground and at right. The deckled, irregular paper edges and mottled, uneven inking in the black passages give the snowy landscape a rough, textural surface.
