Description
Daryl Howard's 2023 mokuhanga diptych "…at dawn's first light… at evening's final glow… I&II" presents two panels of a wide, calm waterway under a pale blue sky that fades to a hazy white band above a low, flat horizon. The left panel shows a thin strip of marshy shoreline in olive-green and ochre stretching across the middle distance; the right panel shows a denser mass of dark green and rust-toned trees on a point of land jutting into the water at the right edge, mirrored in the still surface below. No figures, boats, or birds appear, and a small red seal marks the lower corner of each panel.
