Description
"Miotsukushi" (Channel Buoys), rendered here as a variant or duplicate of the Chapter 14 subject, revisits Genji's return from exile and the navigation of the complex emotional terrain that homecoming requires. The channel marker metaphor — the wooden stakes that guide ships safely through dangerous shallows — extends through the chapter as a figure for the emotional and social navigation Genji must perform as he resumes his position at court. This alternate rendering may explore a different scene within the chapter's episodic structure.
