Description
A large, bald bulbous head with a heavy jowled face, small deep-set eyes, and a wide flat nose fills the lower half of the composition, rendered in white with fine black outlines. Behind it, dense black foliage-like leaf and grass forms fill the upper background, creating a strong contrast between the pale head and the dark surrounding pattern. The print is monochrome (black and white); this woodblock print is titled "Midas, Shôwa period, dated 1965?" by Hideo Hagiwara.
