Trace 21-25

Trace 21-25, an abstract composition by Emi Uchida (2021, oil and charcoal on canvas), is built from dense fields of fine crosshatched lines covering the entire square canvas. A luminous square outline in pink and red glows at the center, framing a mottled dark blue interior, while the surrounding field is composed of overlapping dark green, black, and ochre scribbled marks. The overall effect is a hazy, radiating border around a quiet dark core, rendered entirely through accumulated linear strokes rather than solid fields of color.
