*Trace 23-08* (2023) is an abstract composition in oil and charcoal on canvas by Emi Uchida, dominated by a dense field of dark, cross-hatched charcoal strokes in blue, black, and green tones with scattered flecks of red and yellow. A single vertical red bar runs down the near-center of the canvas, standing out sharply against the mottled dark ground. The charcoal marks are looser and paler at the edges, framing the darker, denser interior around an off-white to cream border.
