Description
This print abstracts a video game special attack or elemental power into the formal vocabulary of Edo-period decorative woodblock. The dominant blue palette likely references both the specific game source and the tradition of Prussian blue (bero-ai) pigments that transformed Japanese printmaking after their introduction in the 1820s, used to particular effect in Hokusai's wave compositions. Henry employs layered woodblock impressions to build chromatic depth in the storm imagery, with bokashi shading articulating the edge between figure and atmospheric field. The result sits between kacho-e ornamental convention and the dynamic energy imagery of fighting-game screen language.
