Eclipse

A large-bellied ceramic vessel with a flared lid fills the composition, its rounded orange-red body streaked with irregular diagonal bands of black. The surface is mottled and textured throughout, with the smoky grey-black background darkest at the upper corners and lightening to a pale, dry-brushed haze around the vessel's base. This aquatint on heavy paper by Joel Stewart is titled *Eclipse*; the year is unknown.
