Description
Green Skies places atmospheric color at the center of its composition, likely organizing fabric, paper, and acrylic passages into a horizon-oriented format that evokes sky and landscape without literal representation. Lippens works the green register across different materials — painted [washi](/glossary/washi), dyed fabric, acrylic-stained paper — so that a single hue reads with varied texture and luminosity depending on its substrate. Stitching moves through the surface as both mark-making and binding agent, its linear paths suggesting weather, light movement, or the structural geometry of the work itself. The inclusion of acrylic in the medium list introduces passages of opaque, flat color that contrast with the translucency of layered papers beneath. As a daily life subject, the work may find its source in observed skies from specific places and times, grounding an abstract color field in lived experience. The result operates between landscape and abstraction, using material accumulation to approximate atmospheric conditions.
