Blue / White

"Blue / White" (1998) by Junji Amano is a nonrepresentational composition in acrylic and ink on paper, built from a dense grid of small rounded-rectangle cells arranged in even rows and columns across the sheet. Each cell holds a soft wash of pale blue pigment, with tonal variation from near-white to a slightly deeper cornflower blue, separated by thin white gridlines. The overall effect is a uniform, calm field of repeating blue-and-white units with no figures or defined setting.
