IMC 2024 Echizen submission

Selected for the International Mokuhanga Conference Americas juried exhibition held in Echizen in 2024, this print represents Hargrave's engagement with the traditional Japanese water-based woodblock technique. The IMC exhibition was held in Echizen, a region historically significant for washi production, where prints were displayed alongside other juried works from across North America. Mokuhanga prints submitted to such exhibitions typically demonstrate the medium's distinctive properties: water-based pigments printed onto dampened washi using the baren, allowing for layered transparencies and bokashi gradations not available in oil-based relief printing.
