Flying

A bird or figure in flight — the composition capturing the moment of airborne motion, the body extended into the space of movement. Flight as a subject in Kimura's work may refer to an actual bird in flight or, more abstractly, to the quality of freedom and upward motion associated with flight. His contemporary woodblock treatment likely uses the graphic simplification of flying form — the spread wings, the aerodynamic line of the body — to capture motion in the static medium of the print.
