Leaf B — a leaf subject in its second compositional version, Kimura's contemporary woodblock approach reducing the botanical form to its essential graphic elements: the outline, the veins, the color. Leaves as subjects allowed Kimura to explore pure form — the complex curves of a leaf's edge, the geometric patterns of its venation — divorced from the context of the plant that produced it. The "B" designation suggests a second treatment of the same leaf subject from a different angle or in a different season.
