Description
Rendered entirely in monochrome blue-grey wash, the composition shows large lotus leaves and seed pods rising on curving stems above a pond, with one bud shown in tight close-up at upper right. A vertical column of Chinese calligraphy runs down the left edge, and two red seal stamps mark the left and right margins. The forms are built from soft, pooling washes with darker ink concentrated at the leaf edges and stem joints, giving the scene a hazy, diffuse quality with no hard outlines.
