The Cove

"The Cove" is a densely packed, monochromatic composition in black and grey line work, crowded with dozens of nude and semi-nude human figures alongside a large dragon-like creature, a bird with outstretched wings, and a centaur-like figure, all arranged around a swirling, foaming body of water at the center. Fine, dense hatching renders every surface—water, thatched-roof structures at right, foliage, and skin—in intricate detail, giving the scene a chaotic, crowded, almost frenetic mood. Miho Morinoue produced this lithograph in 2006.
