Description

"Evening Cool" (夕涼み, yusuzumi) depicts the traditional summer practice of yusuzumi — taking the evening air in the cooling hours after sunset, when families and neighbors would gather outside on engawa verandas, by riversides, or in gardens to enjoy the relief from daytime heat. This specifically Japanese summer practice gave Shuntei a subject combining seasonal atmosphere, social interaction, and the specific quality of evening light in summer: the warm glow fading as darkness brought cooler air, the day's heat exchanged for the night's relief.
