Description
A wave composition by Mayumi Oda charged with spiritual rather than simply physical energy — the wave as a form of bliss, the ocean's movement as a manifestation of the joy that Buddhist practice promises to those who realize the nature of mind. Oda's ocean and wave compositions draw on the deep currents of Japanese wave iconography (from Hokusai's Great Wave through the Shin-hanga seascape tradition) while transforming them through her feminist Buddhist vision: the wave is not simply a natural phenomenon or a compositional challenge but a form of the sacred feminine's energy, vast, powerful, and ultimately expressions of a joy that nothing can diminish. The A/P designation indicates this is an artist's proof.
