Description
A standing samurai in a dark blue-black kimono grips a long spear planted upright in the snow, wearing straw sandals, brown leggings, and a sword at his waist; his head is shaved at the crown with hair tied back. Below him a second figure in a pale blue-gray robe lies sprawled on the ground, face up with topknot visible. The pale cream background shows bare, snow-flecked branches and faint distant figures near a low mountain, with a vertical black title cartouche and red seal at lower left. Woodblock print by Ogata Gekko, "Maebara Isuke Munefusa," 1902.
