Clouds VII

An abstract composition divided into vertical and horizontal color bands: a dark charcoal panel at left, a column of thin rose-and-cream stripes, and a wide central field of deep blue interrupted by irregular cloud-like shapes rendered in pale peach and cream. Below the blue field, a row of small dark flecks suggests scattered birds or marks over a horizon, sitting above a base band of solid color blocks in olive, red, orange, mauve, and pale cream. The visible wood grain texture in the blue and olive areas underscores the print's handmade, mokuhanga character; this unique impression, "Clouds VII" by Paul Furneaux, has no recorded date.
