Two Frams

The print is divided into two square panels: on the left, a single fern frond rendered in white and pale outline against a deep teal-blue ground, its central rib running vertically with rows of feathery pinnae branching to either side; on the right, a curling fern frond in black silhouette set against a mottled green ground, its stem coiling at the top before the leaflets unfurl downward. The composition is symmetrical and botanical, pairing cool blue and green tones with a speckled, textured background in both panels. The sheet is pencil-signed "R. Kiggell" at lower right and numbered "4/12" at lower left, with "Two Ferns" inscribed beneath the image; per the accompanying facts, this is a 2020 watercolor on washi by Ralph Kiggell.
