Description
A 2015 lithograph from Suzuki's ongoing "a moment" series, this print is the seventh in the year's sequence and belongs to her continuing project of depicting women's garments she has designed and sewn herself. Working from stone, Suzuki translates the weave, drape, and folds of the cloth into a tonal language built up through layered crayon and tusche, with the surrounding negative space carrying as much pictorial weight as the textile itself. The image isolates a quiet interval — a garment caught between worn and unworn, present without a wearer. The lithographic process, with its grease-based drawing materials on limestone or aluminium plate, lends the surface a granular softness well-suited to rendering the tactile qualities of fabric. As the seventh print in the 2015 group, "a moment-15-7" sits within Suzuki's first years of independent production after her 2011 graduation from Musashino Art University, where she trained under the Tokyo printmaker Kenji Nagai, and exemplifies the integration of dressmaking and printmaking that defines her practice.
