Description
Produced the same year as "a moment-15-7," this lithograph is the eighth print in Suzuki's 2015 sequence within the longer "a moment" series. Like its companion, it works from a single garment in the artist's hand-sewn wardrobe, transferred to stone through the layered tonal procedures of the lithograph rather than from photograph or tracing. Suzuki's approach treats the textile as a subject worthy of sustained observation: seams, hems, gathers, and the way light pools in folds are resolved through the granular deposit of lithographic crayon, while broader washes carry the surrounding white field. The numbering convention — "15-8" rather than a conventional edition number — situates the work within an ongoing diaristic project, in which each print records a discrete garment-moment rather than a unique standalone image. The sequence reflects the slow tempo of Suzuki's practice, which combines design, sewing, drawing, and printing into a single sustained workflow. Made four years after her graduation from Musashino Art University's correspondence Printmaking Course, the print belongs to the period in which her core subject matter was consolidating.
