$1,000–$6,000. Common subjects: $1,000–$2,000. Key value factors: Nishida's luminous landscapes have found a strong international following. Limited editions sell well.
Look Back (3) Red presents a figure, most likely a cat, captured mid-turn in the act of glancing over its shoulder. The backward glance is one of the most charged poses in Japanese art, known as mikaeri, and it appears in contexts ranging from Buddhist sculpture to [ukiyo-e](/glossary/ukiyo-e) beauty prints. Nishida applies this traditional motif to his own subjects, using the moment of looking back to create compositional tension between the figure's forward-facing body and its rearward-directed gaze. The Red designation indicates this variant uses a warm, saturated palette that likely heightens the emotional intensity of the backward glance. The third entry in the series, this print refines and varies a pose that Nishida finds perpetually compelling.
