Sitting

Quiet, undramatic subjects of this kind have a long lineage in print, where the medium's intimacy and slow making time accord with introspection. Multi-colour etching, whether worked from separate registered plates or inked à la poupée on a single plate, allows Wong to give a sitting figure psychological weight through colour temperature and atmosphere rather than through narrative incident.
