Description
The title and method together announce a procedure of return: revisiting an image, a place, or a memory through the indexical trace of photography reprocessed as a litho matrix. Photo-plate lithography transfers a photographic image to a light-sensitive aluminium plate, allowing Yokoo to incorporate documentary fragments into a hand-drawn field. Chine-collé adds a second paper layer, often used here to isolate or frame the photographic element. The combination produces a stratified image in which different temporalities — the instant of the photograph, the duration of drawing, the act of printing — are pressed into a single sheet. The work sits at the centre of Yokoo's Melbourne-period concerns with bodily memory and the ambiguity of boundaries between document and recollection. Compositionally these prints tend to be restrained, the photo-plate element treated as a half-resolved trace rather than a dominant motif, with surrounding marks behaving as commentary or residue.
