A stone staircase with weathered, moss-toned steps curves upward from the lower right toward a low-slung shingle-roofed house partly obscured by trees and shrubs; a dense cluster of red and pink flowers spills over a retaining wall beside the steps. The scene is shot in overcast, muted light with a pale gray sky, giving the greens, stone, and dark rooftop a subdued, damp tonality; a parked car is faintly visible through a gap in the wall at right.
