White Drop

"White Drop," a 2016 Nihonga work by Yoshihito Kawase, is an abstract composition dominated by a large curved band of pale gold and cream tones sweeping across the center against a dark brown-black ground. Fine vertical striations run through the lighter zone, while mottled, water-like textures ripple along its upper edge where the pale band meets the surrounding darkness. The palette is limited to blacks, browns, and metallic golds, with no figures or identifiable setting present.
