Description

This monochrome woodblock print renders a mountain range in bold black silhouette against a white sky patterned with irregular cloud shapes, the peaks' contours broken by jagged white fissures suggesting texture on the slopes. Below, a village of small houses and stylized trees with triangular and rounded canopies lines the base of the mountains, facing a river or shoreline in the foreground where a single boater is visible on the water. The composition relies entirely on black ink against the cream-toned paper, with no color, executed in a graphic, high-contrast style throughout.
