Description
The ninetieth iteration of Amano Kunihiro's Morning Moon series continues his serial exploration of the waning or early-morning moon as an abstract compositional anchor. Printed on washi with careful grain consideration, the oban-format work likely introduces subtle shifts in the moon's placement, halo treatment, or background tonality compared to adjacent numbers in the sequence. Amano's self-taught approach to the woodblock medium is evident in his willingness to repeat and refine a single subject across dozens of works — a practice more aligned with printmaking as meditative process than with the singular image emphasis of traditional ukiyo-e. Embossed passages may articulate cloud forms or atmospheric gradients without the use of additional ink.
