Butterfly Dance - Summer

A dense diagonal swarm of butterflies streams across a pale turquoise ground, rendered in overlapping layers of blue, gray, black, and white with a few yellow-and-black swallowtails standing out in the lower right. The butterflies cluster most thickly at center, thinning toward the upper right and lower left corners so the pale background reads through as open sky. "Chizuko Yoshida, Butterfly Dance - Summer," a 1984 zinc plate and woodblock print, is signed in pencil at lower right and inscribed with Japanese characters and "a.p." at lower left.
